Funeral mass for Rita J. Sciko (nee Kearns), age 88, of Wickliffe, will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Rd., Kirtland. Family will receive friends Monday from 3:00 until 8:00 PM at the Jakubs-Waite Funeral Home, 36000 Lakeshore Blvd., Eastlake. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery. Rita was born October 13, 1934 in Cleveland to the late Paul S. and Dorothy (nee Scharlotte) Kearns and passed away on February 7, 2023. Rita was a devout Catholic. She loved cooking, baking, ice skating starting at a young age, meeting with her friends of the DMS (Debs Minus Sophistication) Club which started in the 1950’s, an avid Indians Fan, but her greatest love was raising her children and all the time spent with her grandchildren. Rita is the beloved wife of the late John F. Sciko; loving mother of Mary (Jim) Ayers, Kathy (Ken-deceased) Clem, Annie (deceased) (Steven) Langdon, Jan (Denis) Sluga, Sue (Tim) Valentino, John (Becky) Sciko, and Joy (David) Yamane; cherished grandmother of 20 and great-grandmother of 14; loving sister of Paul Kearns (deceased), Kathleen Walsh (deceased), Jim Kearns (deceased), Dorothy A. (deceased) (George J. Sr.-deceased) Callahan, Nina (Chuck) Ziegenfus, Terry Kearns (deceased) and Mary (Dave) Wolff; mother-in-law of Bob Luban (deceased). In lieu of flowers donations may be made in care of the family.
