Obituary

Donna Jane Knistautas (nee Steele) , 74, died on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 due to complications of heart disease. Born in Akron, Ohio on September 13, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Grace (Cline) Steele. Donna was a graduate of Ellet High School, then went on to obtain her teaching degree at Kent State University. Donna taught grade school for a couple years before marrying Tony. Tony and Donna lived in Cleveland for 40 years and raised their family. They established long time friendships in their neighborhood and in the Lithuanian community. With Tony’s Chemical Engineering career, they had the opportunity to travel the world. They visited several countries and even lived in Iran for a couple years when their daughters Susan and Lynda were young. During Donna’s travels she collected traditional dolls that captured the culture of the region. She accumulated quite a collection after all these years! In 1999, Tony and Donna moved to League City, Texas. There they found a special home in a tight- knit community. Donna enjoyed playing cards regularly with her friends in the neighborhood. Donna is survived by her husband Tony Knistautas with whom she had a devoted and loving marriage for 50 years, and her three daughters, Susan Knistautas, Michelle Johnson and her husband Levi, Lynda Robinson and her husband Scott as well as her grandchildren Isaac, Oscar and Garrett. Donna was preceded in death by her siblings Mildred Marsey and Bernice McCauslin. Funeral services Saturday, March 23 at 10:00 AM at the JAKUBS & SON FUNERAL HOME 936 E 185 ST. where the family will receive friends FRIDAY FROM 4:00-8:00 PM. Interment All Souls Cemetery.
